Now in its third year, the Jewish Federation of NEPA uses the Chanukah season of giving to engage in charitable fundraising. This year we are proud to offer a “maniCURE for Sharsheret” which will take place on Sunday December 18, 2011 at Elan Gardens, Clarks Summit from 1-4 PM.
Students from the Jolie Beauty Academy in Wilkes-Barre will be offering manicures using OPI nail polishes. The $10.00 cost for a manicure will go directly to Sharsheret, the national not-for-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer.
Sharsheret’s mission is to offer a community of support to women diagnosed with breast cancer or at increased genetic risk, by fostering culturally-relevant individualized connections with networks of peers, health professionals and related resources.
Since its founding in 2001, Sharsheret has been involved in more than 24,000 breast cancer inquiries offering support and educational programs nationwide. They also provide educational resources and specialized support to those facing ovarian cancer of at high risk of developing cancer and create programs for women and their families to improve their quality of life. All Sharsheret’s programs are open to all women and men. www.sharsheret.org
