Chairman Jim Ellenbogen led a group of both experienced and new solicitors who gathered once again at the offices of Nivert Metal Supply in Throop, PA for the 2012 UJA Super Sunday phone-a-thon.
Federation Executive Director, Mark Silverberg, did the training session over a tasty breakfast of bagels, lox, cream cheese, coffee, fruit and cake. Questions were asked and answered and then everyone headed to the phones.
Organizers said: “We couldn’t get over how smoothly everything ran this year. Everyone kept to their phones until there were no more cards to solicit!”
The group included Margaret Sheldon, Federation President, Doug Fink, 2012 UJA Campaign Chairman and his wife Madelyn, and Barbara Nivert, Women’s Campaign Chair and her husband Louis, owner of Nivert Metal Supply.
The Jewish Federation of NEPA was particularly excited and proud to see four generations at Super Sunday this year. Millie Weinberg (great-grandmother), Lou and Barbara (Weinberg) Nivert (grandparents), and Rebecca (Nivert) Tschampel, and her 7-month old son were there to do their part for our Jewish agencies in NEPA, Israel, and for needy Jews worldwide.
Rebecca grew up watching her grandparents and parents working continuously over the decades for UJA and now, as a young married in our community, she is a role model for others of her generation to follow.
Super Week follows with phone solicitations to those unavailable on Sunday.
Our thanks to all our solicitors, Maggy Bushwick, Esther Elefant, Jimmy Ellenbogen, Vera Epshteyn, Doug Fink, Madelyn Fink, Seth Gross, Janet Holland, Barbara Nivert, Lou Nivert, Rabbi Dovid Rosenberg, Margaret Sheldon, Rebecca Tschempal and Millie Weinberg.
A special thanks is also extended to our staff Dassy Ganz, Dolores Gruber and Rae Magliocchi for their administrative support throughout the Phonathon.
