Now, more than ever, American Jews need to support Israel. And the Israel on Fifth Parade is a perfect opportunity to show our commitment to the Jewish State. So, once again, the Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pennsylvania joined the parade with members of the various congregations of Scranton and the Poconos to march in the largest ever Israel Day on Fifth Avenue event.
The Parade route was lined with many spectators cheering us on and the lively music from loudspeakers surrounding the marchers was an added boost to our already happy spirits. Fifty thousand people, between marchers and spectators, took part of this celebration of Jewish identity.
On the way back, we stopped as usual at Teaneck to enjoy a kosher lunch and each other’s company. Some went window shopping along the main street browsing the many Judaica shops.
The participation in the event this year, as in years past, was sponsored by the Jewish Federation. We proudly support Israel. Am Yisrael Chai! And Next Year in New York for Israel 79!
