The Scranton JCC, Temple Hesed of Scranton, and Temple Israel of Scranton hosted an exciting Tu B’Shvat initiative to enhance the holiday during the Coronavirus pandemic. The initiative included a curbside pickup on Wednesday January 27, 2021 (Tu B’Shvat eve) of complimentary baskets full of an assortment of Tu B’Shvat fruit and other goodies as well as a seed packet to plant parsley to use for the Passover Seder this spring! Later that evening the Temples continued a yearly event, the Tu B’Shvat Seder, held virtually.
The Jewish Federation of NEPA requested from the Tu B’Shvat committee if we can sponsor the cost of baskets to be distributed to our agencies in the Poconos and graciously, they agreed.
Temple Israel of the Poconos, Temple Bnai Harim, The Jewish Fellowship of Hemlock Farms, and the Jewish Resource Center of the Poconos participated; representatives came to the Scranton JCC to get their baskets which were distributed to their membership involved in their Tu B’Shvat programming.
The Jewish Federation thanks the Tu B’Shvat committee members, Dan Cardonick, Harris Cutler, Vince Kalinoski, Leah Laury, and Jennifer Novak.
