JEWISH FEDERATION OF NEPA APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIEL CHEJFEC
SCRANTON, PA: The Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pennsylvania announced that Daniel Chejfec (pronounced Heifetz) has been named executive director. He will assume his new role on January 1, 2022, succeeding Mark Silverberg, who is retiring after twenty-two years at the helm of the organization.
An experienced leader, Mr. Chejfec comes to Northeastern Pennsylvania with extensive achievements, including over a total of twenty years as the Executive Director at Jewish Federations in Central Kentucky, Duchess County, El Paso, and most recently, Augusta, Georgia.
Born and raised in Argentina, Mr. Chejfec is fluent in English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Yiddish. He holds an MSW from the University of Southern California as well as degrees from Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, and universities in Buenos Aires. He is eager to guide the organization during this time of transition. Priority objectives include working together with the lay leadership and staff to continue to further the Federation’s mission, growing NEPA’s diverse Jewish community, and leading the Federation to implement its strategic plan and vision.

I am confident in Daniel’s commitment and passion to further the Federation’s mission, strategic initiatives, and collaborate with various organizations and individuals to strengthen our connection to the Jewish community here in NEPA and beyond.”
