The Jewish Community Center of Scranton (JCC) is the Jewish & greater community’s premiere center of adult and family health, wellness and educational programs. These programs will strengthen and build community, promote family togetherness and foster personal growth while encompassing Jewish values, Jewish/Israeli culture, celebration and partnerships. We enrich and inspire lives by connecting individuals and families through inclusive programming to nurture physical, emotional, cultural and educational well-being. Everyone is welcome to participate in JCC programs and services.
As part of the community for over 100 years, we provide innovative programming year-round for all those who come through our doors from youth, adults, families and older adults. The JCC features a state–of–the–art fitness center with over 4,000 square feet of exercise equipment for a full workout with adjustable resistance, fully loaded free weight area and a comprehensive schedule of classes. All supported by experienced professional staff. Additionally, the JCC offers an indoor pool with swim lessons and water exercise classes, an early learning center with pre-school/child care, summer camp for ages 5-14, sports programs including basketball, racquetball and pickleball and a wide range of recreational, educational and cultural programs for youth, adults, families and older adults. Visit scrantonjcc.org for information on our facility and programs.
The JCC encourages tolerance, respect, cooperation and understanding within the Jewish community and between the Jewish and general community, fostering a shared sense of community of all Jews. As a pluralistic agency, our policies accommodate all members of our Jewish community including our orthodox members. Our building is closed on Shabbat, we have a kosher kitchen and food policy and offer programs to accommodate the needs of our orthodox members (e.g. male and female only swim times).
The JCC strives to inspire Jewish journeys, create Jewish experiences and lasting Jewish memories, deepen Jewish identity & engagement, and nurture a commitment and appreciation of Jewish values and a Jewish way of life and, above all, promote the importance of Jewish community to the next generation. The JCC operation and programs would not be possible without the support of the Jewish Federation of Northeastern PA. As a partner for many years, we share in each other’s mission in serving our community.
